Artist Profile
Growing up in Taranaki, I always knew I had a passion for filmmaking, I did everything from forcing my little sister to make “youtube” videos with me that I would edit in the all glamorous Windows Movie Maker and never post to working backstage on school productions doing the lighting and sound. Editing these videos and helping out with shows was my way of creative expression when I was younger, as I didn’t inherit my whakapapas drawing/painting talents.
My Whakapapa is what motivates me, growing up they were always supportive of me and my frequently changing career aspirations, my Nana always said that I reminded her of my late-uncle Tony, but, “without the musical talents”.
My high school Computer Science teacher is also one of the main reasons I ended up where I am today, by pushing me to go do a holiday program at South Seas Film School in Auckland when I was unsure if I wanted to pursue filmmaking as a degree and getting a Massey tour guide on our school's art trip to show me around the CMP/Music building and tell me about the degree.
I came to Wellington to pursue my dreams of becoming a filmmaker in 2021, choosing to do a Bachelor of Creative Media Production at Massey University, this course has helped me grow as an individual artist and also exposed me to a large group of people who have the same passions as me.
